Love Notes | Miss Kate Cuttables

Hello cropstars!!!!  I have a super cute and simple card to share with you on the Miss Kate Cuttables blog this week!!!

This week I came across two things: a file set that I wanted to use and the desire to make something non-Easter themed, but still spring-y.

Vintage Lane and Gilded Paper Cards | DCWV

Good day to you!  I'm excited to bring you some DCWV goodness today!

I've been a little bit MIA lately, but I've had some real life stuff that had to come before crafting. You know how that is, right!?

So, I wanted to share a couple of cards with you.  For the first one I've used a simple STUNNING new DCWV stack called "Vintage Lane".

If you like really eclectic, grunge-y vintage then this stack is definitely for you!

I was really inspired by the collage look of the stack.  I layered up several of the busy patterns so they would show around the edges and then I took a woodgrain pattern and stamped the two flourishes in white ink.  When the ink dried I used my jewel setting tool (like an I-rock, but a different brand) and set some red and white jewels into the design.

I used several ephemera pieces cut from the Vinatage Lane stack and I also snuck in a few other pieces from my stash (like the red license plate and the kraft banner that I used to house my sentiment).  To finish, I grouped some LUSH Petaloo flowers on top of my embellishment cluster.

I love how saturated the colors are in this project!  I've been having some crafter's block and so I've been stepping out of my normal style to regain some perspective - this card is one of the best results I got from that, lol!

Second, I picked up one of my new FAVORITE stacks, called The Gilded Paper Stack:

This stack is full of woodgrain goodness and many of the pages are foiled with a beautiful gold. I mixed in some of these papers with some scraps from the Goodwood Stack, so I didn't end up using many of the gold sheets - I stuck to the soft prints and woodgrains with just a strip of the golden arrow print.

For this card I really wanted to create a design that drew your eye across the card toward the sentiment.  I also wanted to play with a monochromatic color scheme and I loved the idea of WOODGRAIN being my "color".

I used some Jillibean Soup corrugated butterflies and inked them with white ink to make them coordinate with the background.  I took a few small roses (which were originally ivory) and sprayed them with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in "Bronzer".  I attached everything to my card and finished it off with some sequins from the Royal Castle Shoppe and a little bow made with hemp cord.

Hope you enjoyed my little card parade today!  Next time you find yourself in need of new paper (always!!!) take a look at these two stacks - they're really versatile and just beautifully done!

Midnight Berry + Luxe Suit | DCWV

Hi-de-ho there people!  Just thought you might want to see a beautiful layout I created using two gorgeous DCWV stacks!

Both of these stacks are just FULL of metallic foil accents. I can't help but just flip through them and drool at all that glitz and shine!

I decided that I needed an to make an extra special layout using these stacks, that featured an extra special lady I know, my niece, Devon.

I was inspired by the lace on her dress to choose some of the lace prints in the Midnight Berry stack.  The background of the photo didn't really match, so I did some ethereal photoshopping and made the background black and white and gave her silhouette a little glow.

I used several Spellbinders flower dies, vine dies, and leaf dies to make the flower cluster at the bottom.  These papers cut beautifully, even on the intricate dies - they are very sturdy specialty cardstock.  The banner is also a spellbinders die and I spelled out the title using my FAVORITE letters - small glitter letters from Sticko.

Have you ever created a layout using so many patterns and paper treatments?  How did it go?  I think this one came out awesome because I stuck to a very focused color pallet.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Are you ready for our first blog hop with Faber-Castell? We’ve been fans of their products for a long time so we’re excited that we’re finally doing our first blog hop with them.

I love getting a little messy sometimes - even though I don't do it enough. I feel a real freedom when I pull out some mixed media supplies and I'm so excited to show you what I've come up with!

I received some wonderful supplies to work with for this hop!

Faber-Castell - Mix and Match Collection - Stampers Big Brush Pens - Yellow - 3 Piece SetFaber-Castell - Mix and Match Collection - Paper Crafter Crayons - Blue and Green - 8 Piece SetFaber-Castell - Mix and Match Collection - Gesso

I also used the   and   and  AAANNDD:
Did you know that DCWV now has STENCILS?!?!? (They SO do!)  The stencil I used to create my first card is a recent release by DCWV! (I also used DCWV cardstock to create my cardbases!)

First up, is a card that has LOTS of bold details and some great (and easy!) techniques.  I like the grouping of elements on one side of the card which lets the dimensional background shine as white space.

First, I used my DCWV stencil and Faber-Castell 'Whipped Spackle' to apply my background design onto a piece of DCWV color burlap.  I let the spackle dry and used two different colors of "Double Scoop" Faber-Castell Gelatos over the spackle (that technique works awesome!).  I then used two colors of fiber paper to create my feathers (cut freehand with scissors) and then created some rolled roses.  The sentiment was stamped using Faber-Castell 'Stamp Markers' and I finished the card with some pretty lime gross-grain ribbon and enamel dots.

I couldn't stop playing, so I pulled out the canvas stack and decided to experiment!  I love the diagonal design of this card.  This card looks like I'm giving a piece of ART to the card recipient.

First, I covered the canvas with Faber-Castell 'Gesso' (to give myself a good base to start with).  I created some nice texture over the gesso with some 'Whipped Spackle' and let that layer dry.  I applied lots of color using my Double Scoop Gelatos.  I used a little water and my finger to blend some of the sections of gelato and left some sections more 'scribbly'. I used some mist to give the canvas piece some extra sparkle, even though the Gelatos have SUCH a beautiful shimmer.

I had these handmade flowers from a swap and I thought they really made a bold statement on the front of the card.  I stamped my sentiment and smudged coordinating gelato around the edges.  To finish, I applied some spackle thickly where I wanted my sentiment to be and then just PRESSED the paper into the spackle along with some gems and a Mod Melts heart.  (PS: Gelatos are great for coloring Mod Melt shapes too!)

Blog Hop!! | Miss Kate Cuttables + Xyron!!

Hello friends and visitors!  Britt here today to share the project I made using Miss Kate Cuttables SVG files and some of the newest Xyron adhesive products!
I was so excited to receive a selection of Xyron goodies to use and, as I have come to expect over the years, they were really easy to use, quality products.
I was really inspired by one of the February freebie files called "Flower Group". I love how sophisticated it was and I knew instantly what I wanted my card to look like!!

After cutting all the pieces of my card, the assembly of my images was easy using my Xyron 3" Sticker Maker for the small pieces and the Edge-to-Edge Glue Stick for the words.

I knew I wanted the large labels to have a really strong hold (to make the card sturdy) so I used the Xyron High Tac tape to assemble the large piece and I even reinforced my pop dots with it!

As you can see, the flowers in my design were very intricate and it was a breeze to get that edge-to-edge adhesive - even on the smallest, finest cuts - with the Xyron Sticker Maker. I also love that the new design for the Sticker Maker is recyclable! There are instructions right on the box of how to disassemble and recycle the packaging of the Sticker Maker after you've used all the adhesive!
