Hellooo peeps!! I have a page and a tutorial for you today featuring some Smooch – of which I am a big fan. I’ve also taken a pretty big inspiration from Heidi Swapp’s Neon line (even though it’s not really available close to me yet!)
Let me give you a sneak of the page so you can see where we’re going:
Here’s a photo of my main supplies:
First, choose a photo. Then, cut random strips from a piece of scrap paper that is at least 1 1/2 the width of your photo and 1 1/2 the length (you will understand why in a just a sec!)
Lay the strips over the photo and tape them all together to create a mask (make sure you have the photo completely covered – that is why you needed a bigger piece of scrap).
Lay the mask on your background paper (use a very light color or white) and begin to spritz!
When you are finished using all the colors of Spritz, you can remove the mask and see the ‘frame’ you have created. (If you want to, go ahead and keep the mask – it would make a great page element on another page!).
Next, use some pretty acrylic stamps (mine are Studio G stamps ) and stamp a few icons on your background paper. Do NOT stamp your icons inside the masked section – you are going to cover most of that later!
Use coordinating glitter pens to color some parts of the stamped images to add some sparkle!
Next, choose some patterned papers that coordinate with your color scheme and cut a few strips from each color. Make the cuts irregular (smaller on one end and fatter at the other – this will make the final design look more random)
Begin laying the strips over the paper, positioning them JUST inside the masked section of your page.
This one is just a close-up so you can see what I mean:
At this point, the strips are still whole and hanging off the side of the page. Mark each strip at the point which it needs to be trimmed (a finished strip should fit just inside the masked section on both ends).
Trim and adhere the strips. Use pop dots to attach your photo. The strips and the masking act sort of like a photo mat and really makes that pretty face stand out! (This is a photo of one of my baby cousins, Myscha).
A great thing to use with your spritz is the Spritz board. This is some awesome chipboard because it already has some resist designs on each piece.
This is my spritzed dragonfly. In real life this is VERY sparkly! (The design is a bit harder to see because I got a phone call and left the spritz on a little too long. Smooch Spritz is fast-drying and really sticks, so be ready with your paper towel right away!).
These chipboards are also self-adhesive, which I love! : )
Peel and stick your big, sparkly chipboard!
I’ve really been loving banners lately (I KNOW I’m so late on this bandwagon, but I am really enjoying how they look with the notched ends!). So, take the leftovers that you trimmed from your patterned paper strips and notch the ends.
Use Smooch to ink the edges of each banner.
Lay them across the top of your page and attach a fiber or ribbon over them to make a non-traditional banner. (Hide the end under that beautiful chipboard!)
Use a coordinating stamp that has a place for journaling. To really tie it in with the rest of your page, add some color to the image with the glitter makers.
Lastly, add your title to the bottom and HANDWRITE your journaling! (It is so personal when it’s handwritten).
