Flowers of Friendship–Hampton Art

Hello! I just wanted to share a card I have up over on the Hampton Art blog today! It includes a LOT of masking. Such an easy technique, but SO impressive to look at!  Here’s a peek:

image

This is JUST stamping with a few pearls added. Go HERE to see the whole project!

Want to try some masking yourself? Here are some masking tips:

1: Be sure to stamp each flower one time with no masking! When you start your project, stamp each image you will be using one time, randomly on the paper, so that you can see the whole image – THEN start masking.  The reason you do this is because you need to give the eye an example of what the image looks like, whole.  That way, your brain can ‘fill in’ the image for all the masked flowers more easily and your design will pop off the page because it has so much depth.

2: Use thin paper to make your masks! You will get a more crisp line where the two stamps “overlap” if you use thin paper to make your masks.

3:  Make more than one mask of each image! To cover a larger area with masking, you will need at LEAST two of each image.  The more masks, the more complicated your masking can be.

Hop on over to Hampton Art and see the whole project and if you like it, let them know in a comment!

Keep it royal people!!

PS: If you need a little more help? Go HERE for an About.com tutorial on basic masking!

DCWV–A Type of Art Valentine Trio

Good Morning my fine friends! Here today to bring you some early Valentines day inspiration from a DCWV stack that MIGHT not be first on your list when you are thinking of love and romance.

Even though the main point of this stack is to give you LOTS of different pages full of typography, if you take a good look, there are lots of hearts, love words, and even a page from Romeo and Juliet!  Perfect for a few quick V-day cards!

ValentineTrio

DCWV stacks have lots of really cool pages of embellishments just ready to cut out.  This stack has a whole page of tags and many of them have sentiments that are perfect for love and romance cards.

Valentine2

These were so easy to put together! I love the different book pages and how they all coordinate.

Valentine3

I was so excited to fins some older chipboard from the Paper Studio that really went well with this stack.

Valentine1

I LOVE this one the best! The yellow just POPs!

DCWV CHA BOOTH PROJECTS

Hello! I’m so excited that CHA is this weekend!!! Finally the DCWV booth has been revealed and I wanted to give you an up-close and personal look at my projects!

Now, for reasons unknown (to me at least) my projects were altered quite a bit, but I am extremely proud of the HOURS of work I did on the section of the project that was removed (Maybe it was damaged in transit).  So, I wanted to show you the projects in the original form and celebrate this awesome weekend of crafting and excitement!

The Masquerade Box:

CHA3

I hand beaded, hand cut, and hand decorated each mask in this project.  These masks took me almost two weeks to complete.  Take a good look because this section of the project has been removed.  You will not see it at CHA.

CHA4

Here is a closer look at the beading that I did and the masks.

CHA6

CHA7

On the box itself, I did a mosaic out of all the assorted papers that I was provided.  The box took me about two weeks.  This is a shot of some of the existing project which you can see in the CHA DCWV booth.  Go check it out!!!

CHA5

This is the front panel of the box which focuses on the blue moon beads which are beautiful.  I believe this is also able to be seen unless it was also removed.  Let me know if you see it!!!

WORLD MARKET SCONCES:
CHA2

So sorry about the photos! This was the best place to take the photos because inside my house just too dark.  These had also been heavily altered, but look much more like this original project.  Mostly there were lots of teal accents added and the beading at the bottom (all hand done) was removed.

CHA1

I cut these panels with my cricut and used lots of punches and dies to create the other accents.  Let me know if you see it in the DCWV booth!!!

The Booth is just bursting with lots of inspiration! If you at at CHA go check it out!  There is an awesome elephant made of paper and beads – so cool!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Heartstring Designs January Kit: Vintage Wonder (Day 2!)

Good morning! Welcome to day two of the FABULOUS Heartstring Designs’ January Housecalls Kit reveal!!! I can’t wait to show you my projects for today!

Take a look at Vintage Wonder:

The kit includes cardstock, 2 cardbases with envelopes, patterned paper, twine, banners, embellishments, letters, and LOTS more!  This month’s kit features the following brands:

American Crafts

Crate Paper

Studio Calico

Jillibean Soup

3 Girl Jam

Elle's Studio

------------------------------------------------------------------

And now…inspiration! Fun, fun, fun!!!

TVLove

There were two papers in this kit that I just LOVED and was instantly inspired to use my scissors and fussy cut some embellishments.  One has the cute little TVs (above) and the other had adorable phones! (below). (I also used a Martha Stewart corner punch to create the little ‘doily’ out of orange cardstock!)

CallMe

This whole kit had a nice masculine feel to me.  It had gender-neutral colors and some great, non-girly patterns.  But, since it’s January I wanted to show how the contents of the kits would be GREAT for Valentine’s Day cards too (especially good for a cheeky little V-day card that the hubby won’t be ashamed to open at work!).

(The red heart is cut from some of the kit cardstock and coated in glitter! LOVE this AC cardstock – so sturdy and great for DIY embellishments like this!)

---------------------------------------------------------------

How are you?  Need a breather?  Well, SORRY, we are JUST getting to the good part!  As I said yesterday, this kit contains an Amy Tangerine Day Book! (Awesome!!).  Amy Tan’s style is funky and retro, and PERFECT included in this kit!

MiniBook-CoverMiniBook-17

As you can see I FILLED the pages of this book and I still have TONS of pages left!  I decided that I really wanted to document one of the most common means of expression among people in my generation and younger – cell phone self portraits!  I have tons of these photos available to me through family member’s facebook pages, so I printed a bunch of them off and went to town! I LOVE the result… without ado or interruption:

MiniBook-1

MiniBook-2

MiniBook-3

MiniBook-4

MiniBook-5(LOVE this page!)

MiniBook-7

MiniBook-8

MiniBook-9

(I used a black Farber-Castel pen to add faux stitching and some journaling on certain pages).

MiniBook-10

MiniBook-12

(I made the orange background on the right with the leftover negative scrap from all the circles I punched for the other projects!)

MiniBook-13

(Here, and throughout the book, I used some embossing folders and ink with the kit cardstock to add dimension and interest to a few of the pages.  Notice the cheetah print on this tag!)

MiniBook-14

MiniBook-15

(See the TVs and telephones through the book?  Yeay!)

I decided to stop here (with half the book left to go!) because I want to wait for some more great pictures to pop up on facebook.  That’s the cool thing about teenagers right now – plenty of cellphone photography to scrapbook!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

At this point, I had used the letters, stickers, and embellishments to DEATH and still had a little left.  BUT I had two full sheet of cardstock and all of the number Thickers, not to mention LOTS of big, chunky patterned paper scraps.  So, last but not least I made a milestone birthday card set!:

MilestoneCardSet

I feel like milestone birthday cards are ALWAYS the ones I make at the last minute so this would be a great little gift set to give someone so they always have a generic (but HANDMADE!) card to give when they have a last-minute party.

MilestoneCardSet2

(The B-day embossing folder is one of my FAVES!)

MilestoneCardSet3

Since each card is made almost completely from cardstock I used four different embossing folders to add interest and a little more meaning to each card (see the clocks on the ‘50’ and the ABCs on the ‘5’ ?).  I made all four of these cards in an hour and a half! So easy!

---------------------------------------------------

HOLY VINTAGE WONDER BATMAN!!! I literally have a bag of SCRAP left (to decorate the rest of my mini when the time comes!).  This kit was SO fun to work with – I can’t wait for next month!!!

Heartstring Designs January Kit: Vintage Wonder

Hello! And welcome to the first FABULOUS Heartstring Designs’ Housecall Kit reveal of 2013!!!

Take a look at Vintage Wonder:

This kit is simply AWESOME! I know, because I have been creating with it for DAYS and I just LOVE it.  The kit includes cardstock, 2 cardbases with envelopes, patterned paper, twine, banners, embellishments, letters, and LOTS more!  This month’s kit features the following brands:

American Crafts

Crate Paper

Studio Calico

Jillibean Soup

3 Girl Jam

Elle's Studio

------------------------------------------------------------------

Whew! With that let us have a little inspiration, shall we?

HelloFriend

There are two 5x7 card bases and envelopes included in this kit and I found that they were a great starting point.  (Confession: sometimes I have trouble cutting into new paper, eek!!).

SandyHook

Now, something that wasn’t included in this kit this time – stamps.  The above sentiment is a stamp from SP and Company and ink from Studio G by Hampton Art.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Feeling inspired yet?  Well, maybe you’re more of a layout crafter and not a card crafter…GREAT!! You have supplies to do many layouts just like these:

AdamLayout

I used some circle punches to create the border on the right and a little journaling stamp to put lines in the journal spot.

AllMyHeartLayout

I am so in love with this page and this picture of my niece and nephew.  I used a sketch from the Silhouette blog and all the shapes are either cut from my circuit (Plantin Schoolbook and Tie the Knot), fussy cut, or punched using Fiskars squeeze punches.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, here’s a little sneak of what is to come tomorrow:

MiniBook-Cover

Cute, right? This kit also includes an Amy Tangerine Day book!  I’m so excited to show you what I created with it!!
