Good morning! Welcome to day two of the FABULOUS Heartstring Designs’ January Housecalls Kit reveal!!! I can’t wait to show you my projects for today!
Take a look at Vintage Wonder:
The kit includes cardstock, 2 cardbases with envelopes, patterned paper, twine, banners, embellishments, letters, and LOTS more! This month’s kit features the following brands:
------------------------------------------------------------------
And now…inspiration! Fun, fun, fun!!!
There were two papers in this kit that I just LOVED and was instantly inspired to use my scissors and fussy cut some embellishments. One has the cute little TVs (above) and the other had adorable phones! (below). (I also used a Martha Stewart corner punch to create the little ‘doily’ out of orange cardstock!)
This whole kit had a nice masculine feel to me. It had gender-neutral colors and some great, non-girly patterns. But, since it’s January I wanted to show how the contents of the kits would be GREAT for Valentine’s Day cards too (especially good for a cheeky little V-day card that the hubby won’t be ashamed to open at work!).
(The red heart is cut from some of the kit cardstock and coated in glitter! LOVE this AC cardstock – so sturdy and great for DIY embellishments like this!)
---------------------------------------------------------------
How are you? Need a breather? Well, SORRY, we are JUST getting to the good part! As I said yesterday, this kit contains an Amy Tangerine Day Book! (Awesome!!). Amy Tan’s style is funky and retro, and PERFECT included in this kit!
As you can see I FILLED the pages of this book and I still have TONS of pages left! I decided that I really wanted to document one of the most common means of expression among people in my generation and younger – cell phone self portraits! I have tons of these photos available to me through family member’s facebook pages, so I printed a bunch of them off and went to town! I LOVE the result… without ado or interruption:
(I used a black Farber-Castel pen to add faux stitching and some journaling on certain pages).
(I made the orange background on the right with the leftover negative scrap from all the circles I punched for the other projects!)
(Here, and throughout the book, I used some embossing folders and ink with the kit cardstock to add dimension and interest to a few of the pages. Notice the cheetah print on this tag!)
(See the TVs and telephones through the book? Yeay!)
I decided to stop here (with half the book left to go!) because I want to wait for some more great pictures to pop up on facebook. That’s the cool thing about teenagers right now – plenty of cellphone photography to scrapbook!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
At this point, I had used the letters, stickers, and embellishments to DEATH and still had a little left. BUT I had two full sheet of cardstock and all of the number Thickers, not to mention LOTS of big, chunky patterned paper scraps. So, last but not least I made a milestone birthday card set!:
I feel like milestone birthday cards are ALWAYS the ones I make at the last minute so this would be a great little gift set to give someone so they always have a generic (but HANDMADE!) card to give when they have a last-minute party.
(The B-day embossing folder is one of my FAVES!)
Since each card is made almost completely from cardstock I used four different embossing folders to add interest and a little more meaning to each card (see the clocks on the ‘50’ and the ABCs on the ‘5’ ?). I made all four of these cards in an hour and a half! So easy!
---------------------------------------------------
HOLY VINTAGE WONDER BATMAN!!! I literally have a bag of SCRAP left (to decorate the rest of my mini when the time comes!). This kit was SO fun to work with – I can’t wait for next month!!!
